Teaching Artists Needed!

Job Summary: Teaching Artists instruct academy students based on the provided curriculum. They bring a bright energy, welcoming environment & lasting impression to our students through their collaborative & engaging instruction. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement provided  theatre-based curriculum for students aged 5-18. 
    • Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying experience levels.
    • Will be asked for input & collaboration on existing curriculum
  • Lead classes, workshops, and/or rehearsals focused on acting, voice, movement, and/or other performance techniques. 
  • Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages artistic growth, collaboration and patience.
  • Direct or assist with youth productions, showcases, or performances as part of the academy program.
  • Provide mentorship/constructive feedback to students to help them develop their artistic skills.
  • Communicate effectively & collaborate with students, the artistic team,the education director & (potentially) parents about class progress, expectations & discipline.
  • Ensure a safe and professional classroom environment that upholds Stage Door’s Values. 

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with teaching/theatre education preferred, but not necessarily required
  • A background & general knowledge of theatre arts
  • Must be willing to submit & pass a thorough background check 

Schedule:

  • Schedule depends on assignment :
    • Summer Artist: M-F 8:45-3:30
    • Academy Production Director: Rehearsals 2 Days a week for the semester at 2.5 hours. Required Attendance for Tech Week & All Performances.
    • Residency Teaching Artists: As needed, TBD

 

Pay Rate: 

  • Summer Teaching Artist: $600-650/Week
  • All other positions are compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
