Stage Door Performing Arts Academy serves to educate and inspire children and young adults ages 3 through 18 in the performing arts. Offerings taught by our team of theatre professionals and educators include acting, musical theatre, film, costuming, set design, performance opportunities, and so much more!

Workshops

Romeo & Juliet Workshop

Saturday October 9th
10:30am-4:30pm

Description 

Join us for a full day of Theatre! Learn acting technique in a fun and engaging environment! This workshop includes acting games and scene work, as well as a private Masterclass with Josh Brelsford (Romeo) in which students will receive individual monologue coaching. Students will then observe Stage Door’s professional company warm-ups and fight-call, and then stay to see the matinee performance of Romeo & Juliet. Ticket price for the show is included in workshop tuition.
Please prepare a 30 second monologue for the masterclass portion.
Lunch is not provided. Please bring a lunch and a water bottle.
Parents are welcome to join us for the show, but will need to purchase their tickets separately.

The Addams Family
November 6 & 7

Join us for a family friendly evening! A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story that’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young woman from a respectable family– a woman her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s girlfriend and her parents.

Jr Company

AUDITION ONLY

This is SDPA’s performance company for ages 11-18. Students will not only perform a Broadway-Style show, but through the process learn and refine voice, acting, and dance techniques.  Jr Company members are required to contribute at least 3 crew hours.

Rehearsals: Mondays 5:00-7:00pm & Wednesdays 5-6:30pm

Crew is on select Fridays 5-6:30pm

In the Fall after the musical, Jr Company will have the opportunity to audition for Stage Door Theatre’s professional company performance of A Christmas Carol. More details to follow.

Stars

AUDITION ONLY

This is SDPA’s performance company for ages 6+. Stars will learn acting, voice and dance technique while rehearsing and preparing for performance. Stars will perform both semesters.

In the Fall after the musical, Stars will have the opportunity to audition for Stage Door Theatre’s professional company performance of A Christmas Carol. More details to follow.

Virtual Stars

The Virtual Stars will sing, act, and dance their way through the semester while learning songs, scenes, and dance numbers to be performed for family and friends. This class meets virtually via Zoom. Home access to reliable internet and a Zoom compatible device are required.

Ages: 6-10

Mondays: 3:30-4:30pm

Audition Information

Step into the spotlight and join our Jr Company of actors as we put on one of Broadway’s beloved musicals!
Ages 6-10 will be auditioning for ensemble and supporting roles.
Ages 11-18 will be considered for lead and supporting roles.
Auditionees will be seen one at a time. Please prepare a 16-32 bars or 20-30 seconds of a song AND a 20-30 second monologue.

Date: December 13 & January 3

Time: 5-7pm

Dress Codes

Acting: closed-toe shoes, clothing comfortable for movement, hair out of face

Musical Theatre Dance & Tap: jazz or ballet shoes, tap shoes*, and sneakers, fitted clothing required, leotard or similar highly encouraged, loose hair tied back neatly out of face
*Tap shoes not required for Intermediate level Musical Theatre Dance.

Creative Dance: ballet shoes, sneakers, and tap shoes, clothing comfortable for movement required, leotard or similar highly encouraged, loose hair tied back neatly out of face
