As a 501[c]3 nonprofit theater, and a Classical Repertory theater, Stage Door Theatre’s vision is to be respected and recognized for artistic excellence, achievment, and advancement in areas such as theatrical preservation, musical and play productions, and education. Each season, we strive to bring the most challenging, engaging, compelling and entertaining performances and productions to you with some of the most talented artists in the industry. Stage Door Theatre will always place an emphasis on quality and professionalism, while continuing to educate and expand the theatrical knowledge and experience of both our audiences and our artists.
With the support of our Sponsors, our Season Ticket holders, our Donors, our Partners, and our Community, we have been able to consistently produce professional-quality theatre, producing a full season of Classic and Classical works, while also producing World Premieres and Regional debuts of new work. Our mainstage season consists of a unique and diverse combination of plays, musicals, and cabarets. Additionally, Stage Door Theatre has performed anti-bullying programs to middle schools in the area to help students understand the impact of their actions, and have worked with our partners to bring History Alive! with our community programming.
Live, professional-quality theater exists thanks to the foresight of the Dunwoody Woman’s Club who founded the theater to the Dunwoody community in 1974. In 1988 we were able to move to our current home at the North DeKalb Cultural Arts Center. From 2016 to 2018, in partnership with the City of Dunwoody, Portis Building, and Oldcastle (now CRH) we were able to update our lobby, restrooms, and our entranceway. The Dunwoody Garden Club enhanced our main entrance by planting our garden in 2019. With the help of our many partners, Stage Door Theatre will continue to put our best foot forward serving the community as best we can.
As we continue to grow and expand our theater and our artists, watch for our exciting future endeavors. We continue to challenge ourselves with new ideas and to bring the very best that we have to offer. With each new undertaking, our goal is to engage, broaden, and deepen the connection to both our current audience, and to a new theater-going audience that has yet to experience the theatre.
Thank you for being a part of this wonderful theatrical experience. We hope that we see you soon!
